Modern Furniture with Foundations in Nature with Fjordfiesta

Furniture inspired by nature seems like a simultaneously lofty and short-lived pursuit—until you see the Norwegian mountains, valleys, and rivers that surround the workshop of Fjordfiesta. Surely there is no end to the inspiration cultivated in the workshop, enveloped in natural beauty, where the vision of Fjordfiesta founder, Pål Lunder, is manifested through handcrafted, eco-conscious pieces.

History

In 2001, the primary goal of Pål Lunder and the Fjordfiesta creative team was to bring designer Hans Brattrud’s 1950s Scandia chair designs back into the limelight. Ever since, the legacy and heritage of Scandinavian design has been at the heart of Fjordfiesta’s design mission.

This has led to collaborations with such creative minds as Anderssen & Voll, and Andreas Engesvik, as well as more contemporary designers—engaging current and future generations in the preservation of Scandinavian excellence.

If you are reading this from the comfort of the Scandia Bolt Easy Chair or the 1001 AX Sofa, then you have—among others—Fjordfiesta foreman Jonny to thank. From sketches to final product, a dedication to and passion for the finest craftsmanship comes alive in the team of craftsmen diligently working along the Dokka River at the Fjordfiesta factory.

For the Love of Nature

Fjordfiesta loves its homeland and believes each piece produced under their care should pay homage to the surrounding natural beauty in not only form and design, but also in materials, production, and distribution. Down to their very bones, Fjordfiesta furniture lives in harmony with the environment. Nature runs in Fjordfiesta’s veins, inspiring every aspect of their modern Scandinavian furnishings—from the frame to the wood, to the water-based lacquer.

For nearly seven decades—since the first iteration of the Scandia chair—discipline and innovation have shaped each handcrafted piece of furniture produced by Fjordfiesta and their design team, which is not something Fjordfiesta takes lightly or is likely to ever give up.
