Description

The Serge Mouille Lamp – Three-Arm Rotating Floor Lamp is a stunning example of mid-century modern lighting, blending timeless design with practical functionality. Created in 1952 by Serge Mouille, this iconic modern lamp was a response to the bulky Italian designs of the era, embodying Mouille's vision of elegant, linear forms. The three adjustable arms, equipped with hand-spun aluminum shades and unique brass joints, rotate independently to provide customizable lighting. Each lamp is handcrafted in France using original molds and techniques from Mouille’s workshop. Limited to 600 pieces annually, every lamp is stamped and numbered, ensuring exclusivity. Additionally, a standard warranty guarantees its lasting quality and craftsmanship.

The Serge Mouille Lamp – Three-Arm Rotating Floor Lamp is a perfect fusion of sculptural beauty and functional design, making it a standout piece in modern and mid-century lighting collections. Its striking, insect-like form with adjustable arms offers flexibility for both ambient and directional lighting, making it suitable for various interior settings. The black lacquered finish and white interior reflectors amplify illumination, enhancing any room’s atmosphere. Each piece is meticulously crafted in France, using the original tools and molds developed by Serge Mouille himself. This lamp is a true testament to timeless design and artisanal craftsmanship, making it a highly sought-after piece for design enthusiasts.

The brand Serge Mouille is a symbol of elegance, craftsmanship, and innovation in modern lighting design. Serge Mouille

Serge Mouille (FRANCE 1922-1988) is most famous for his modern lighting fixtures characterized by matte black parts with beautiful brass connectors.  Serge Mouille's lighting fixtures are coveted amongst the modern interior mindset and have been revered for their sophisticated yet minimal design.  Today Serge Mouille's designs are still produced in a factory in France using Serge's original designs and tooling and each piece is made to Serge's exact specifications.

Serge Mouille originally studied silversmithing and metallurgy at the School of Applied Arts in Paris after being admitted at the age of 13.  He had great success as a silversmith and began teaching by the age of 25.  It was not until he was 31 that Serge Mouille introduced his first lighting fixture.  His lamps were inspired by insect-like minimalism and were an intentional departure from the more complicated lamps of his time.  Mouille's fixtures were first shown in a gallery in 1956 along designs by Charlotte Perriand, Isamu Noguchi and Jean Prouvé.  His lighting fixtures are a blend of function and art that many have come to appreciate throughout the years.
