Its distinctive conical body and adjustable brass joint allow for precise, functional lighting while maintaining a strong visual impact. Handmade in France with the same techniques used by Mouille nearly 70 years ago, each light is numbered and stamped, with only 600 pieces made annually, making it a rare and exclusive addition to any space. Serge Mouille
Serge Mouille (FRANCE 1922-1988) is most famous for his modern lighting fixtures characterized by matte black parts with beautiful brass connectors. Serge Mouille's lighting fixtures are coveted amongst the modern interior mindset and have been revered for their sophisticated yet minimal design. Today Serge Mouille's designs are still produced in a factory in France using Serge's original designs and tooling and each piece is made to Serge's exact specifications.
Serge Mouille originally studied silversmithing and metallurgy at the School of Applied Arts in Paris after being admitted at the age of 13. He had great success as a silversmith and began teaching by the age of 25. It was not until he was 31 that Serge Mouille introduced his first lighting fixture. His lamps were inspired by insect-like minimalism and were an intentional departure from the more complicated lamps of his time. Mouille's fixtures were first shown in a gallery in 1956 along designs by Charlotte Perriand, Isamu Noguchi and Jean Prouvé. His lighting fixtures are a blend of function and art that many have come to appreciate throughout the years.
