Details
Charles and Ray Eames adapted molding techniques developed during World War II to produce their classic shell chair's simple, gracious form. In 2001, Herman Miller reintroduced the original Eames® Molded Plastic Chair (1950) in a durable, 100 percent recyclable polypropylene. The subtle, matte texture has a soft tactility in your choice of vintage and contemporary colors. Wooden dowel legs add sophistication and warmth to this modern molded plastic chair. Charles Eames said “The role of the designer is that of a very good, thoughtful host anticipating the needs of his guests.” With the molded plastic, fiberglass, and wood shell chairs, the Eameses created a universal response to what everyone wants from a chair: a simple, gracious form that fits any body and every place. *Many more colors & fabrics available. Brand
Herman Miller®
Herman Miller was a West Michigan businessman who helped his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree, buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in 1923. De Pree had been working at the company, which opened in 1905, since he was hired in 1909 as a clerk. De Pree knew his father-in-law was a man of integrity, so he decided to rename the company after him. By the middle of the 20th century, the name Herman Miller had become synonymous with “modern” furniture. Working with legendary designers George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, the company produced pieces that would become classics of industrial design. Herman Miller is a 100-year-old-plus company that places great importance on design, the environment, community service, and the health and well-being of their customers and their employees. Innovative ways to improve the performance of their customers’ organizations have become their hallmark.
